SUCCESSFUL TRIAL. . [PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, to-day. A trial was made this morning on a special train between Wellington and the Hutt of the Christie patent safety ralway brake attachment. The trial was very suecessfiil, the appliance satisfying all requirements and fulfilling the claims of the inventor, Mr N. C. Christie, of Invercargill. The invention provides a means of indicating at oizce io the driver of a train whether the "brakes are opera- ', five or inoperative, and also gives a means of communication by telephone between the different carriages and the driver in case of accident.
