She- was a prominent figure on all occasions iii the entertainment 'of; illustrious, European visitors, among the most notable being the Duke and iMichess-of York, who, with their Majesties King Edward and Queen , Alexandra, reciprocated her hospitality most royally when Mrs Donnelly a few years ago visited England. Her loss will bo felt by both races. She was the essence of -charity. ' Her own people have lost a great champion, and the community at largo one of tho few rangatira links binding us with Maori past and the early history of Hawko's Bay.
