WAIRARAPA SHOW.
By Telegraph. CARTERTON, yesterday. The spring slioav of. the Wairarapa Horticultural andy Industrial Society was held at Cartel-ton on Saturday under very favorable; ' weather conditions; A" special -feature of the show was tho great -variety of sweet peas and- roses in. the section for cut flowers. Iri' r roses most of the prizes wore secured by Mr A. Booth and Mrs W. H. Booth. The entries in fruit and vegetables were not oniinerous, but tho quality was of a high order of merit. The fancy work class showed a great improvement on last year, both in the quality and number of -exhibits, Mrs Rraiiis being tho chief winner. The pot plants section produced keen competition in nearly every class. Messrs F. Cooper, Ltd., Gibbons and Co., and H. Poole, of Wellington,, all made special displays, and Messrs J. Laird and Son, of Wanganui, sent a large collection of roses for exhibition. The judges were Messrs H. Poole (Wellington), E. Hale (Masterton), ana Mesdames W. H. Hosking and C. A. Tabuten, of Masterton. • FEATHERSTON, yesterday. Up to Saturday 820 bales of wool had been consigned during tho woek. Some 5000 sheep Mere sent* to the freezing .works, and another 3000 are 'expected to go to-day.
