The Union Steamship Co.'s Benefit Society adopted a resolution authorising the executive, after conferring with the directors of the company, either to terminate by voluntary dissolution, or to amalgamate" -with soiuo other friendly society favorable to its reception. The chairman mentioned that while tlie society proved of the greatest benefit to members afloat, so littlo was it appreciated that of 2000 employes afloat eligible for membership, only 107 belong to the society. During the existence of the society the company had contributed £4726, ■equal 'to 65 jier cent, oi its accumulated funds. INVERCARGILL, to-day.
