IN HIS OWN COIN.
Three women residing in Beech Forest (Victoria) havo "dealt with" a. man who was constantly beating his wife (says the Sydney Daily Telegraph). The man in question made it a practice, it appears, to beat his wife whenever he became in* toxicated, arid when he thrashed her he usually turned her out of doors. Recently, after attending a sale, the wife-beater went home drunk, and as his wife was ill, neighbours carried her away for protection to a farm some distance off.. The man went to bed, and shortly afterwards hi« house was invaded by three women each armed with 2ft Gin length of lin rope. They pulleld the wifebeator out of bed, and belaboured him so severely about the legs and body with the rope ends that he cried for mercy. They desisted only when they became exhausted, and it was not until three days later that the man was able to leave his bed. The women were two spinsters (whose brothers are reported to be good boxers), and his sister-in-law. Ho has since stated that he intends to prosecute the women, but while he is being urged to do so by some of the residents, it is not thought likely that he will bring the case into Court.
