— iot < . ■ MR E. 8.. ROSS AT HOROEKA. VOTE OF THANKS AND CONFIDENCE. J (By telegraph. — Special to Advocate.) WAIMIRO, to-day. Mr R. B. Ross addressed a Avell-at-tended and ,- enthusiastic meeting of . Horoeka and Waimiro settlers in the Horoeka.. school last night. After dealing comprehensively with the legislation of last Parliament, he expressed indignation at the treatment of the Farmers 5 Union, seeing that he had supported the main plank of the union platform and the interests of farmers generally as promised at last election. • His answers to questions at the close of the meeting were direct and to the point, and left no doubt as to their meaning. A vote of thanks and confidence in Mr Ross was carried without a dissentient vote. [PKEBS ASSOCIATION.] DUNEDIN, last night. Mr R. K. Douglas, the Political Labor League's nominee for Dunedin South, addressed a meeting to-night. He said he favored the referendum, with the right of initiative, also nationalisation of all lands, and means of production and distribution. He received a vote of thanks and confidence by a large majority. Mr F. M. B. Fisher opened liis campaign for Wellington Central tonight. He had a good hearing, and was given a vote of confidence. Mr David McLaren, Labor candidate for the Wellington East seat, spoke to a large gathering to-night. He was well received. Mr F. T. Moore, a Wellington suburbs candidate, spoke at Kaiwara tonight. The chief item of his programme is a State Bank. A vote of confidence was passed. Mr Hogg, Socialist candidate for Wellington South, addressed a fairly large meeting at Newtown to-night. At the desire of the candidate, who was given an attentive hearing, no vote was passed. DUNEDIN, to-day. Mr Lyndall, schoolmaster at Bluespur, applied to the Education Board for a month's holiday to contest the Bruce scat, but a motion in favor of the pronasal only found two supporters. TIMARU, last night. Mr T. Buxton, Mayor of Temuka, opened his campaign as Liberal candidate for Geraldine at Temuka last night. He declared himself generally in accord with the policy of the Government.
