He was thanked by the Mayor for making Feilding a stopping place for the Main Trunk express. Association, waited on the Premier "to-day with several requests, including, the post office to be elevated to the status of chief post office ; extension x of telephone service with surrounding centres ; freight rates on Manawatu railway; when Government assumes control ; and establishment of a bond at Palmerston.The» first request, the Premier said, it was impossible to grant. The office was already in possession of all the advantages of a chief post office.
