HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

♦ ■ ■ - — The annual meeting of the above was held at the office of Air Green last night, when there Mere present — Messrs Bickford (in tlie chair). Rev. T. T. Thomas. Fairhurst, Alcf Kenzie, Soundv, Bamford. P. O. Clark, E. Cowper. An apology for absence was received from Air J. A. Robertson. Tbe report and balance-sheet, as published in the Advocatk yesterday, were r ead, and their adoption was moved by the President. In doing so he commented upon the passage in the report dealing with the question of petty pilfering from the show tables, and said that it was a matter for regret that this sort of thing should go on, as itwas a great source of annoyance to exhibitors to lose work upon whicli they may have been engaged upon for months. He also referred to the handsome credit balance and to the fact that the society should procure its own crockery and vases. The motion was seconded by Mr Soundy and alter somo discussion on lllinoi* matters, it way carriod unanimously. Air Bickford then left the chair, and on the motion of Air Soundy he was re-elected President, the meeting refusing to listen to his expressed desire to retire after ten years' service. Air George Hunter was re-elected patron, and Mossrs AY. F. Knight and Bamford were re-elected to the positions of vice-presidents. Air Ransom was re-elected treasurer. The following committee was elected: Rev. T. T. Thomas, Messrs Fairburst, Soundy, E. Cowper, Clark, Robertson, Russell, Rasmussen. Air AVhitelaw was re-elected auditor and Air A. E. Green was re-elected secretary. I'he Chairman moved a hearty vote of thanks to the ladies for the assistance they had rendered at the show, a special vote heing passed to Airs Bickford for her assitance as cashier, etc. The meeting then adjourned after passing a vote of thanks to the Chairman. The first committee meeting was fixed for Aionday next at 7.30 at the President's office.
