HARRY RICKARDS' VAUDEVILLE SEASON.
This combination, as already announced, will open at the Drill Hall on Wednesday next. Mr Rickards has been' fortunate in his selection of artists for his New Zealand tour, no fewer than six well-known European "stars" being ' included in the organisation — namely, the Charlenes, King and Benson, Fred Rusell, and his automaton "Coster Joe,'' and Miss Cassie Waliner, who has recently concluded a five-months' season at the Palace Theatre, London.. Of thei Charlenes, a Sydney contemporary wrote as follows : ."Few turns at the Tivoli Theatre has created such a stir as that by the newly-arrived Charlenes. They have come direct from the Folies Bergeres, Paris, and do full justice to their European reputation as drawing-room entertainers. Charlene himself is a legerdemain artist of consummate ability, rivalling Cinquevalli. The act in which a number of torches are tossed about overhead is one of the H-#rfc thrilling things seen on the Australian stage. The lady is a skilled musician, and plays delightfully on the xylophone, her costume is dazzling." Popular prices wil be charged. The box plan will be opened at Bartlett's on Monday.
