The New Streets Question.
(To the Editor.) Sib, - When I read a letter in your Saturday's issue, signed "Disgusted,", j^ could not help agreeiug with the; epnH, tents, as far as the Tepapakuku road is concerned. If the statement made by the present Mayor is correct, that not only were these proposed roads surveyed and agreed to by the Council, but also were tbe plans and agreements actually signed by the owner of the land, as well as also sealed and signed by the late Mayor, who then. Sir, could but feel disgusted at the action of the Council now to try to wriggle out of it by proposing other routes and to have motions rescinded formerly passed in connection with, the route already agreed upon ? To me, Sir, it seems a very unworthy action of a body of men like our City Fathers. In fact I would like to ask you, in the face of all motions passed, all agreements made, all expenses incurred, plans being sealed and signed, County Council conferred and arranged with, does an action of wriggling out of it at this stage seem to you to be not only foolish and shameful, but indeed unjust and fraudulent ? But now in regard to Mr Basmussen's roads. What wrong did the Council do there ? Will "Bis gusted" perhaps explain ?— I am, etc., > E^NIIBELY DISINTEBESTED.
