H B LAND BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the Hawke's Bay Laud Board was held ou Friday at tbe Laud Office, and attended by the Commissioner of Crown Londs (in tbe chair) and Messrs T. Hyde, R. R. Groom, and R. C. Baines. CORHESI'ONDEXCE. Mrs A. H. McKay asked that a see- ! tion in the Hatuma township reserve be set aside as a site for a public hall. — To I stand over until the township is laid off, when the matter will receive favourable consideration. Donald Morrison applied to purchase sections 33 and 3-1, block 14, Takapau, under section 117 of the Laud Act, ]§92. — Ranger to report as to the value of the section to the nest meeting. A letter was received from A. G. Williams, lessee of sections 1, 2 and 14, block 6, Norsewood, requesting that he be allowed a rebate of last half year's rent on payment of road and Council rates. — No action to be taken. Henry North, lessee of section 2, block 1, Hatuma settlement, requested permission to take another crop of oats off a portion of his holding. — Permission granted. P. McLean, lessee of section 4, block 8, Takapau, requested that the balance of payments due on his buildings be capitalised, and that he be allowed to purchase under sub-section 3 of section 24 of the Land for Settlements Regulations.—Minister's approval to be asked to the proposal. P. Glesson, ou behalf of settlers in the Lindsay settlement, forwarding a protest against the sale of the creamery reserve, stating tbat they were quite willing to pay the rates, etc., if action were suspended in the meantime. — To be held over for further inquiry, the ranger to report to nest meeting. Letters received from the under- j mentioned with respect to non-compli-ance with the residence and improvements conditions were dealt with as stated:— C. "Walker, section 7, block 4, Tahoraite, to be informed tkat he must adduce evidence to the next meeting that a commencement had been made with the building, otherwise section to be absolutely forfeited ; G. F. Danby, section 2, block 15, Waipukurau, explanation satisfactory. The following applications to transfer were approved, subject to the usual conditions, being complied with-.— -E, Orbeli to 0. J! Vaughan, sections 6 and 7, of block 10, Takapau ; R. N. Moore to D. G. Clarke, section 10. block 9, Mangatoro. Extension of time was granted one tenant at Waipukurau and one at Tahoraile in which to pay their arrears of rent, while a lessee at the latter place is to be notified that he must pay as soon as he can.
