The ground af Tamaki was held by three owners, and no security of tenure could be given, and one of the owilers would not consent to SirridsFf play. The committee recognised that the Tahoraiti links were not as good as they could wish, but they were '4iie best that were available. Kaitoke had been menlioned; as a possible golfing ground, but Mr Cowper objected to Sunday play. It was suggested that a few holes might be provided at Tamaki which would provide a practice- ground, and so meet the wishes of those who desired to play? on other than tire • regular days." To^ obviate the wheel ruts whfcli caused so rauc/h trouble lastvyear at, Tahoraiti, Mr Enight had kindly, offered. to metal a road throuph the paddock in qnestio^; and had also offered to pu.t sheep into ai padsdbek in which there was at present sonte long grass,, so that play would be . possible next months ... .: ( : : Mr Deighton moved that the report Be adopted. •■: .■ ' ' . Mr Parker asked I " 'if Mr Knight; formed a metalled* road through a certain paddock, would the wheel wits; be filled? ._ > The Chafrnaan explained • that thetrheel nits had been nearly filled up by the weather. Mr Abbie said the ground afc Tamaki was far before that at Tahoraiti, and he thought a good course could be laid out omitting play at the hole in Mr Smith's paddock on Sundays. Mr Irvine then described at seme length the new" ground proposed at Tamaki. He referred to the uncertainty of tenure of some of the land, and thought it would be advisable to accept Mr Knight's offer to play at Tahoraiti for the coming season. He thought the difficulty of those who required Sunday play might be met by providing a few holes in Mr Snell's paddocks. A general discussion followed, when Mr Abbie proposed and Mr Hawkins seconded, that the Club continue at Tahoraiti, but lay down six holes on Mr Snell's ground for practice. This was carried.
