Social.
Last evening a social and sale of gifts was held in the Wedleyau Church in connection with the celebration of the Harvest Thanksgiving. There was a fair attendance and the folio wing programme of songs and recitations was much appreciated: —Song " Good-bye," Miss Meyenburg; recitation "When Father was a Boy," Master G. Cook ; song, Mrs Harwood; song " Asleep in the Deep," Mr Taylor; song "The Village Blacksmith;' Mr Newton ; recitation, Mrs Cook; reading, Bey. G. S.^ Cook ; anthem, choir. Three nail driving competitions were held, two for ladies acd one ; for gestlemen. The ladies' competitions were won by Sirs Collier and Stevenfon, Miss' Taylor acting as a substitute for the latter. Mrs Collier's prize was a doll and a table centre was awarded Miss Steventon. The gentlemen's naildriving competition was wpn by Mil Newton, who received a glass butter diah.. . :
