The Furniture Dispute.
.Per Press Association.) Auckland, March 19. A meeting of the Furniture Trade "Union of employers was held to-day when the citation to appear before the Arbitration Court was read. The meeting gave instructions for the matter to be placed m the hands of the union's solicitors so that the charge may be I defended m the court. The number of workmen out of employment has to some extent been reduced. Originally 75 were suspended, and the secretary of the Employers' Union states that 20 of these have got work out of Auckland, while 16 have been taken on m the. city by employers who are not parties to the dispute, leaving about 40 still ont of employment. Christohuboh, March 19. The Christchnrch Furniture Trade Union have decided to make a levy of ds a week m aid of those involved m the Auckland dispute. The first instalment of the levy was made this morning. A suggestion was. made by the Dunedin Union that the levy should be 10s a week, but the Christen inch Union considers that 5s is sufficient, and it has decided to ask other unions to contribute a similar sum.
