Excitement was caused at Yalgoo by the arrest of Richard John Carlyon, a well-known resident and owner of the Queen mine, in connection with the explosion of the infernal machine in the Yalgoo Post Office. Carlyon was charged with sending an explosive box through the Post Office to Solomon Lownes with the intention of doing him bodily harm. Accused was remanded on heavy bail.
