The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, 'Ltd., report as follows on their PaJmei'ston sala on Thursday : — We had a full yarding of cattle consisting principally of grown steers, for which there was little enquiry. A fair eu try of sheep oame forward and changed handa at rather lower prices than recently ruling. On account of the recent rough weather and general shortness of grass ire have been obliged to postpone our anunal Cattle Fair until a later date. We quote as under : — Sheep — Hoggets, 7s 6s; fat ewes, 11s 3d to 12s. Cattle : Store cows, £3 to £3 8s ; backward cows in calf, £4 10s ; wtaner heifers, 33s to £2 9s ; 1 5-uionths to 18-months heifers, £3 6s to £3 7a ; 2-year empty heifers, £4 ss-; forward bullocks, £6 18a to £7 13s; fat bullocks, £10 to £10 9s. Messrs F. H. Wood and Sons, Ltd., report that they held their annual spring cattle sale at Maryborough sals yards on Thursday, when, despite the exceptionally rough weather, there was a record attendance and very large jarding of stock. Bidding throughout . the sale' was brisk, and; with the exoeption of a few lines on which the reserves were considered, soioewbat high, a satisfactory clearance was made. realised are quoted as under :— ( Cattle— Fat cows up to L 7 5a,, store Buliopks 3yr oldnp to L 7, 2yr old steers to L6IBB 6d,2yr old empty heifers L 3 ss, 12 to 18 month steers up to L 3 7s 6d, weaaers to til 12s 6d, springing heifers toLS 18s6d.
