Spring is quite a month late nearly all over the Wairarapa. & The natiyes are preparing for an en■fe< tertainment in Wellingtonrin aid of the Wr Maori Girls College at Auckland. ToL day they are coUecting subscriptions W towards the equipment of those taking part. Rehearsing is going on at all the settlements, and much enthusiasm, is displayed. At a meeting of the Racing Club's stewards on Saturday David Caaelberg. made the suggestion that the stewards canvass for- nominations by attending other race meetings for that purpose. The matter was discussed, and was left in a^ay_ance for the meantime. Pro-. babl^^J^^. brought up again and definite acfSdn taken. No cases of scarlet fever have been V officfaly reported of late, but diphtheretic and sore throats are prevalent. The mortality among lambs is reported to be phenomenally. . heavy in consequence of the recent severe, weather. The milk supply from cows was larger a month ago than at present. Feed is scarce everywhere. The Masterton Racing Club has- decided to use a starting. machine for all races at the approaching meeting. •
