Farewell Social.
— ■ — ♦ — '—, ■■ Mr Jago, who has held a position in the local branch of th*> Bank of New South Wales, has been promoted to a positiou in the Wellington branch. Prior to his departure he was, last evening, entertained at a farewell social by Mrs Ross and his fellow lodgers at "The Lawn" private boardinghouse. A very enjoyable time was spent, the evening being devoted to singing and parlour games. Songs were given by Mesdauies Ross ard Carlson, Misses Birkensbaw, Birnie, Mitchell, Messrs X»go, Milner, Krough, Pirie, Hore, Robertshawe. Ross, Mason, Eagar, Steel, Mackey, Harrisou, Gemmell, Mellow. During the evening Mr Jago> was presented with a handsome silver-mounted pipe by Mr Krough on behalf of Mrs Ross and family and the boarders. Mr Jago suitably acknowledged the gift. Before the gathering dispersed three cheers were given for Mr Jago aud Mrs Ross, who had kindly provided refreshments. Cheers were, also, given for the ladies who assisted to make the gathering a success. Mr Jago left for Wellington to-day, and carries with him the good wishes of his many friends.
