At a meeting at Obingaiti last night, addressed by Messrs Stevens and Ivess, the latter anuounced his intention of retiring from the contest in favor of Mr Stevens. Hawera, This day. A meeting convened for last evening by persons dissatisfied with the viewd of Messrs Hutchison and Cowern on the education and liquor questions, and to choose their c-indi» date, resulted in a fizzle meeting. The West Coast Licensed 'Victuallers Association has decided to support Mr Cowern as a supporter of the Government.
Messrs Swan, Carnell, and Button have been nominated for Napier. Mr T. G. Kevr has been nominated for Timaru. Mr W. Sinclair has been nominated for Wairau, and Mr H. Mills for the Sounds. Mr Hall-Jones has been nominated for Tiraaru. Sir R. Stout and Messrs Duthie, Bell, and Fraser hava basn Dominated for Wellington.
