Correspondence was read — From the Railway Commissioners stating that the matter of granting for road extension the whole of tfae railway reserve in Stanley Street would receive further consideration. Mr James Nimmo wrote requesting the Board to make the footpath in front of his building. — To be dealt with when the works scheme is bring prepared. From the Danevirke School Committee, asking tha Board to agree to an exchange of reserves No. G and "7 for education reserves No. 40 and 41. —Mr Fraser moved that the Board agree to make the exchange, subject to Mr Popplewoll's lease of sections 6 and 7.— Seconded by Mr Athy and carried. The Licensing Clerk's salary was fixed at £6 per annum. Accounts amounting to ill s 19s were passed for payment. The Tavnaki Sawmill Company applied to the Board for permission to lower thair tram, so as to get a better grade.— Mr Mackay said the cutting would do for the road, and he thought the permission should be granted. Mr Fraser proposed that permission ha given.— Seconded -by Mr Mackay and carried. Mr Fraser said the ratepayers ware complaining about the sparrow nuisanca, and they wanted to know if the Board *ere goin? to take any steps to poison the sparrows this year. He proposed that the Board expend £6 in the purchase of poisoned wheat, the Road Board to be asked to act with the Town Board in the matter. Th« Chairman said the poisoned grain should be obtained frow the local chemist, Mr Prior. Poisoned wheat had been purchased from him last year, and it was the best they had used.— Mr Mackay seconded tha motion which was carried.—Mr Mackay said the grain should be distributed through tha district on one day. He also thought that the County Council might give a little assistance in the matter ; the Pahiatua County Council had done 80. Mr Athy asked if all the drains had been cleaned out.— The Chairman said there was a drain branching up from the Mangatera that bad never been touched. — Mr Athy said Mr J. Brown bad complained tfcat be was flooded out on account of the drain not being cleaned out. — Mr Fraser said that place always would be flooded ; they could not drain the water off. The Chairman thought that if the drain was kept open that part would net be flooded. The crossing at Allardice street also wanted draining. A culvert should be put in and the water carried down Allardice street. — Mr Athy moved that the Board clean out their part of the drain he had referred to, and that the owners of land adjoining be asked to clean out the drain on their property.— Seconded by Mr Fraser and carried. The Chairman said Mr Wallace had asked him if hu would bo allowed to take some gravel off the road leading up to his place.— Mr Fraser said that the gravel might bs taken from the Board's pit, but they would want all the gravel they had on the road. — It was resolved to inform Mr Wallace that he could obtain gravel at the Board's pit. The Chairman sttd there was a bola on the same road that wanted attention. The filling and cutting bad given way, and the hole should be cleaned out, and filled up with gravel. — Left to the Works Committee. The clerk said that it was advisable that the Board should have a plan of works drawn up for next meeting. The plan might be prepared by the Works Committee.— Mr Athy suggested that all the members of the Board form a Works Committee on this occasion 1 , as that course would easure all parts of the town being attended to. —This course was agreed on. It was decided to hold a committee meeting on Friday, 22nd inst., to draw up a scheme of work*. The Board then adjourned.
