RESIDENTIAL NURSERY
CARE OP CHILDREN
In spite of difficulty in securing and retaining suitable staff, a year of considerable progress was referred to by Mrs. J. A. C.-Allum,-president of'the Auckland Residential Nursery Society, at the annual meeting last night. It was stated that the position had improved in recent months, and the committee hoped that, with the return to normal conditions, the staff problem would right itself. A large number of donations ha'i been received during the year, said Mrs. Allum, totalling in all £1814. The executive hoped to see another home established so that the older children might be accommodated away from the tiny tots. During the year 216 children had passed through the" nursery. It was the policy of the society that no child be refused admission because of its parents' inability to pay. In appreciation of the work, Mr. H.. J. Butcher had given to the
nursery since its inception when he offered his home for the purpose, Mrs. Allum moved that he be made a life governor of the society. The following officers were elected:

Sexton: hon. medical officers, Dr. Alice M. Bush, Dr. Adah Platts-Mills; hon. secretary, Mr. Gordon C. Moses; hon, treasurer, Mr. T. W. M. A.=hby; hon. solicitor, Mr. Joseph Stanton; hon. auditor, Mr. Keith A. Armstrong.
