GAS RESTRICTIONS

- Although some 500 tons of coal was made available to the Auckland Gas Company yesterday by the acting Minister of Mines, Mr. O'Brien, the restriction on the use of gas ay industries remained in force to-day and indications are that they will also have to apply on Monday. Mr. R. Worley, general manager of the Auckland Gas Company, said that a good deal would depend on the response of domestic consumers to the request for economy in use of gas. The Karepo left Westport for Auckland last night witn 2800 tons of coal, said to be me biggest coal cargo to leave xne harbour for some years.
