INVITATION TO MAYOR
An invitation to the Mayor of Auckland, Mr. Allum, to attend a World Christian . Conference m Washington, D.C., on November 1 and 2 was contained in a cablegram received by Mr. Allum yesterday. The conference will be on the subject of Palestine and will be addressed by leaders in American political and religious life. Invitations are stated to have been sent to leading Christian friends of Zionism in North and South America, the Dominions and Europe. "Need support of Christian like yourself for this important conference, especially at this crucial hour when the fate of Palestine is at stake," stated the cablegram. "Kindly cable acceptance: Lesourd Voss." ' • , "The only way for a New Zealand civilian to get to America these days is to swim," commented Mr. Allum in expressing his regret at not Deing able to attend the conference.
