MENTAL PATIENTS
QUESTION OF TREATMENT
NEED FOR REORGANISATION
Parliamentary Reporter,
WELLINGTON, this day
The committee expressed the desire that I should say that there is, or there seemed to be, on the evidence we received, a definite necessity for some re-organisation of the treatment of people in mental hospitals," said Mr. Anderton (Govt., Eden) chairman of the Public Health Committee in the House of Representatives to-day. Mr. Anderton made his statement after presenting a report from the committee referring to the Government for consideration a petition by an Auckland woman praying for compensation for alleged wrongful detention in a mental institution and asking that she should be heard.
