PSALM'S GUINEAS?
CLASSICS AT WINGATUI
STRONG SOUTHLAND DOUBLE
Special to the Auckland Star CHRISTCHURCH this day. Southland's prospects of taking the Dunediri Guineas and McLean Stakes double at Wingatui to-morrow with Psalm and Special Flight are bright. The last four winners of the McLean Stakes have come from Southland, among them Winning Flight (1941), a half-sister to Special Flight, which will also carry the colours of Mr. D. M. Tweedie, the Riverton owner-breeder of many successful gallopers from Francolin. Special Flight is well forward, and jumped out smartly at the barrier rise in the parade of two-year-olds at Wingatui last Saturday. Psalm, an easy winner of the McLean Stakes last year, is In winning form for the Dunedin Guineas, and it will come as a surprise if she fails. Fields for the spring meeting of the Dunedin Jockey Club are good. Betting will be win and place. Horses in form are:— 11.0—Wakari Hurdles: Lunaria, Forage, Sandy Cape. 11.45—Novice Handicap: Deep Harmony, Battle Chief, Lexia. 12.30 —Kaikorai Hack: Hansel, Milton Abbas, Falconbridge. 1.15 — Ranfurly Handicap: Sphere, Authentic, Royal Rae. 2.o—Dunedin Guineas: Psalm, Swingalong, Thornbridge. 2.4s—McLean Stakes: Special Flight, Palm Bearer, Full Moon. 3.3o—Telegraph Handicap: Lord Advocate, Whackie, Grand Forest.
4.ls—Clarendon Hack: Rahiri, Boolam skee, Turnstile.
