PAEROA HORSES ENGAGED

Betterman and Bettermusk are a pair of Paeroa horses who are engaged at the Otakl Maori Racing Club's spring meeting to-morrow. Form will be closely watched at this fixture, as a prelude to Trentham. Winner of the Foxton Cup first time out this season. Flying Tor, who is engaged in the Mitchelson Cup this month, is topweight in the Ling Memorial Stakes. He may meet solid opposition in Tavern Light and Betterman. Old Mack, from the same stable as Betterman and Bettermusk, won the Ladies' Necklace at New Plymouth and is in the Meraa Champion Hack Handicap. One of the features of the Otaki meeting this week should be the reapparance of Kindergarten, who is booked to stage a working gallop between the races. Kindergarten has been off the scene since he went amiss following his success in the Hazlett Gold Cup in January, and it had been reported that his turf career had finished when L. J. Ellis returned him to his owner at Gisborne. However, the Kincardine horse has been entered for the Harcourt Stakes at Trentham on Labour Day, and, as he has won the last three contests for this race, it is to be hoped that he will survive a prepara-, tion.
