PETER PAN'S RULES

Here are some of tire chief rules of the Young Folks' Corner. All boys and girls under 18 years of age, whether members or not, may enter lor competitions and send in items for publication. Short stories, poems, drawings. Jokes, riddles, puzzles, interesting news, paragraphs and various kinds of handicraft hints, are welcomed. Points certificates and, in certain eases, money prizes, are awarded for published work. Exceptionally good original work merits four points, and three points ai-e awarded for other good original contributions. Two-point and one-point certificates are sent out for small items or those of not such a high standard and for copied work. Copied poems are not accepted unless they are unusually humorous or interesting. All items must be marked "original" or "copied." When 25 points are gained, the certificates should bo sent in to this office, and a half-crown postal note will be sent out as a prize. Three points are allowed for a birthday in the year in which you have gained 25 points, but no certificate is actually sent out.; that means that when you have won 22 points, and if you have had a birthday that year, you may send your certificate In. Each month a prize of 5/ is awarded for the best original short story received. Stories must contain not more than 600 words

To Join the Peter Pan Club, all you need to do is to write in and ask to be enrolled. There are no membership feesfees, and your name will appear in the list of new members in due course, although we regret that we cannot send out any membership certificates at present. If you change your address, please notify us. Criticisms of stories, drawings and poems are given if requested, and if the work is not likely to be published. Other types of items cannot be criticised. We usually publish one or two drawings each week. They must be in Indian ink and not more than four inches square, preferably less. Willi, drawings, as with all contributions, original work is better than copied. Coloured work cannot be considered except when we hold special painting competitions. Write on one side of the paper only, and state clearly your name, age and address. Address contributions to Peter Pan and Wendy, C/o Star Office, Box 1409, Auckland C.l. , Contributions which do not observe these rules may have points deducted from them, or may even not be considered. So cut them out and keep them handy somewhere, boys and girls. Then your contributions will always start off on the right foot!
