ARE STILL NEEDED
PATRIOTIC FUNDS
APPEAL BY THE BOARD P.A. WELLINGTON, this day. The hope that people would realise that the need for patriotic funds does not end with the cessation of hostilities was expressed by Mr. Perry, M.L.C., deputy-chairman of the National Patriotic Fund Board. There were still about 100,000 personnel in the armed forces in the Dominion and overseas, he said. Demobilisation would take some months, and the same amenities should be provided for the forces as while hostilities lasted. There must also be sufficient funds to provide extra assistance where required for the welfare of service personnel and dependents after the war. The value of having reserves for this purpose was demonstrated after the war in 1914-18.
WELLINGTON, this day.
Mr. Perry strongly urged that there should be no slackening of the effort to provide public funds for these purposes, and especially that those who had been regular contributors should continue their contri--1 bution.
