GIRLS' LIFE BRIGADE
A successful social evening was held by the Auckland Division of the Girls' Life Brigade in the Beresford Street Congregational Hall for officers and governing committee members. The commissioner, Major D. Earle, opened the evening by introducing the commandants of the three Auckland battalions, who assist her in the extensive work of looking after the companies in their respective areas. They were Major D. Wilson, for the First Auckland Battalion, Major D. Hunter, for the Second Auckland Battalion, who is also Dominion treasurer, and Major R. Dawson, for the Third Auckland Battalion, who is carrying on divisional secretarial work. Captain F. Mac Donald, of the 57th Auckland Company, who has recently been appointed to the clerical staff of the Dominion Headquarters in Auckland was also present. Major Earle spoke on her work as a welfare officer of the Education Department, giving an insight into the work of furthering youth activities under Christian leadership.
