OLD-TIME PLAYER
TESTIMONIAL MATCH
Provision has been made for a testimonial match at the end of the season for Albert Asher, groundsman at Carlaw Park, who is returning to Tauranga," said the chairman, Mr. J. W. Watson, at a meeting of the Board of Control of the Auckland Rugby League last evening. Mr. Watson added that in view of the services of Asher to football, every endeavour would be made to make the match a success. The match would be between Pakeha and Maori teams on October 13.
The Senior Club Officers' Association wrote stating that the association had discussed the question of a return match for the injured players' fund, but in view of the Asher testimonial match the members considered that the proposed match should riot be proceeded with.
It was decided that the return match between the Auckland and South Auckland representative teams should be played at Huntly on September 29, the elate on which the champion-of-champions match will be played in Auckland. Reference was made by Mr. Watson to the tour of the primary schools team to West Coast, Christchurch and Wellington. He said that the team left on Tuesday, and those responsible for the trip should be complimented. It was decided that should the same team win the minor and major championships, the runner-up should play the winner o,f the Roope Rooster in the champion-of-champions match. 1 Fixtures for Saturday are:—Mount Albert v.
