TRENTHAM TRIALS
TRACK VERY HEAVY
Special. WELLINGTON, this day A heavy frost and fog made timingimpossible at Trentham this morning till the morning had well advanced. Further the outside of the course proper, on which the fast work was accomplished, was very heavy, which was not surprising in view of the fact that 241 points of rain have fallen at Trentham since thp opening day of the Wellington meetinc last Saturday. The sun broke throueh brilliantly to gradually disperse the fcV but there is no hope of the track improvl ing to any appreciable extent prior to Saturday.
Foxhaven and Dash o' Dink werr- part ners over six furlongs after the fog had lifted and they came home the last halfmile in 58 3-ss. They were travelling within themselves. Alcyone finished in front of Constitution at the end of seven furlongs in 1.50, the first three furlones being run in 455. Neenah jumped awav In front of Kaitoa and stayed there till the close to run his half-mile in 54s the best of the morning over the distance Singing Hills, alone, came home quite attractively at the end of seven furlones in 1.50, the first three furlongs taking 465. * Tring Goes Well Tring was a neck to the good of Plat, form, with Boloyna two lengths awav after covering seven furlongs in 1.45 2-5' the first three furlongs in 45 4-ss. Tieer Tan was doing it better than High Ideal and Good Fun at the end of half a mile in 575. Air Port was well clear of Dies Faustus at the close of their seven fur. longs task in 1.45. The latter will not run in the Parliamentary Handicap. Royal Flight and Amorlad were under restraint in running six furlongs in 1.30, the first two furlongs in 30s. Lotto drew away from Brahman in the closing stages of their seven-furlong gallop to complete his task in 1.49 2-5. Ballyneety, Royal Jay Town Survey and Bramble Song required 2.0 for their mile, after taking 58 2-ss£ for the first half-mile. Over the Obstacles There was not a great deal of jumping attempted by the 'chasers, but Red-Glare and a mate jumped four of the obstacles along the back. Lapida'rlan did a round alone, giving quite a sound display.. This Northerner appeared to handle the;.heavy going well. Good Armour and The' Dude the latter being kept up to his work, went over the hurdles, the pair keeping together throughout.
Quite a number of horses were put over the schooling fences on the oval and among them were Epping, Lord Mascot, Town Survey, Bramble Song, Royal Jay, Moderate and Sherwood Forest. Brahman. propped badly at one fence when taking it alone, but he went better in company later.
