SOCCER BOARD'S DECISION

The recommendation that A. Ellis, of the Watersiders' Club, be debarred from taking part in Association football for iive years, made by a special committee set up to inquire intp an incident arising out of the Comrades —Watersiders' match on June 30, was unanimously confirmed by the control board of the Auckland Football Association at last.. evening's meeting.

The Watersiders' delegate said he had been instructed by his club to state it would agree with whatever decision was made.

: The committee reported that Ellis did not appear before it, and that no direct evidence was given on his behalf. The evidence of eight witnesses had been taken, and the committee stated it was satisfied that Ellis deliberately struck" E. Fincham.- without

A challenge for the Munro Cup, at present held by R.N.Z.A.F. (Whenuapai) was received, fr.om Papakura Camp, and it was decided that mutual arrangements be made for the playing of the match.

Permission • was • granted to the junior management committee .to send a primary schools' representative team to play Hutt Valley and Wellington teams during the August school holidays.

No action was taken regarding a letter from a supporter suggesting that MetroCollege, 1943 and 1944 champion, be included in the Senior A grade. Authority was 'given' for the regrading of the following from senior to second grade: D.'J. McLellan' (Ponsonby), Alex. Ellis, W. Woolsey, D. Grieves, Porteous, McLaughlan, G. Jackson and A.
