PACIFIST MINISTER

PREACHERS GIVE EVIDENCE

During the hearing of the case of a former minister of the Methodist Church, Leslie" Colin Clements, who applied for release from detention before the No. 1 Revision Authority yesterday, the Rev. E. T. Olds, minister at the Pitt Street Methodist Church, appeared in support of the applicant's sincerity in his attitude towards war. The Rev. W. Walker, a former member of the Trinity College Council, said that Clements had been only a probationary minister. As president of the Methodist Church, witness had given him permission to administer communion at Strathmore in the absence of an ordained minister. Leonard Talmage Hayman. a company director, also gave evidence as to the applicant's sincerity. Decision was reserved.
