INDOOR SPORTS

An indoor games night was held by the Auckland Y.W.CA. •in the Town Hall last night when the Interhouse and Sports Department organised the event in connection with the diamond jubilee activities of the association. The programme, which opened with a grand march of all the teams around the hall, consisted of a physical culture display, figure marching, team games and, as a finale, a maypole dance with three maypoles and 20 girls to each maypole. The colour schemes were most effective. A points competition was run for cups, which were later presented by Mrs. Allum. Associated on the platform with the acting general secretary, Mrs. 0. Peatfield, were the Mayoress, Mrs. J. A. C. Allum, the president of the [Auckland Y.W.C.A., Mrs. T. Derrick, and the chairman of the sports comR- B, Wilson.
