SLUM CLEARANCE
May I be permitted to reply to a statement regarding slum clearance signed "Cook Street," who says: "The city has a large population of Hindus, Chinese and Maoris, who, by their nature, ignore the requirements of modern domestic life." Does it ever appear to "Cook Street , that maybe these Maoris, who are unfortunate to be driven into such a state are to be pitied and not slurred at. The Maoris on the whole are cleanliving people, very particular both in habits and personal appearance. 10 a certain extent I agree with cook Street," but all Maoris cannot be judged by the faults and carelessness of a few. My ancestors were splendid, refined and very P art j?"££ people about the hygienic cleanliness of their homes. Apparently CooK Street" is one with a clear eyesight for others' faults, but fails to do MS or .her duty in improving the situation. I suggest to him, Less taut and more action." , Tro arr A MAORI MJRSb.
