S*RAtf<JE THINGS ABOttt TO the Editor Here, are some salient features of this city that cannot but iftigfess themselves oh even a resident of So years' standing: (1) The dull resignation with which citizens tolerate preventable hardships and acute shortages of everything; (2) the. difficulty ih even moving along Qtseeri Street in any day of the week- <3) the mania of various organisatiftns official or otherwise, for collecting every stray penny they can out of the sweat of other people's brows' (4) the fact that consumers are charged the full price for gas whether they get any or not; (5) the way the children are taught to suck ice creams in the most bitter weather; (6) the penchant that tramwaymen have for air-conditioning their vehicles in the same kind of weather; (7) the trams are too slow and the stops far too frequent; (8) the traffic congestion in single streets built for the requirements of the '70's and the abundance of bottlenecks and no-exit streets; (9) the broken glass that is a menace to cyclists and motorists; (10) the stodgy perversity with which the Auckland Bacing Club declines to spend a penny on improvements or facilities for patrons and the lamblike docility with which said patrons continue to accept this nuisance Other matters could be itemised, but for the sake of space the foregoing should suffice. BEWILDERED.
