N.Z. TYRE MANUFACTURE
APPLICATIONS FOR LICENSE P.A. WELLINGTON, Friday. Commenting to-day on the cablegram from London referring to the manufacture of motor tyres in New Zealand, the acting-Prime Minister, Mr. Nash, said the arrangements so far approved provided for the hearing by the Bureau of Industries of applications to engage in tyre manufacture. A considerable number of applications for a license to manufacture had been received and the bureau in its discretion would take into account the needs of the country and the economic production of mo'tor tyres. That did not in any way mean that if licenses were granted - manufacture would be confined to one company or organisation. The question of price would be properly care'd for in the license or in any subsequent agreement in connection with manufacture associated with the license.
