IMPROVEMENT REPORTED

PLOW OP GOODS PROM U.K. P.A. • WELLINGTON, Friday. Importers should not expect very rapid restoration of full supplies from Great Britain* although the reorganisation of industry was well under way, said Mr. G. W. Clinkard, London representative of the New Zealand Ministry of Supply, at a gathering of members of the Wellington Manufacturers' Association,

Mr. F. R. Picot, Commissioner of Supply, who supplemented Mr. Clinkard's' remarks, said that the supply position was definitely improving and that by the end of the year they could look forward to an increasing flow of goods that had been needed. Against that, of course, they had to remember that there was a vast international shortage, and demands from such organisations as Unrra and from the Netherlands East Indies and .Colonial Offices would be tremendous.

Mr. Picot paid a tribute to Britain's treatment of New Zealand. "In the matter of the supply of some things," he said, "we have had a wonderful spin, and anyone, who questions Britain's intentions to fulfil her obligations does not know what he is talking about. As far as we are concerned she has done all that has been possible."
