The 1945 season was officially opened to-day by Mr. A. A. Baker, chairman of the Auckland Council of Sport, who congratulated the association on its record entries of 134 teams. Visitors witnessed a fine spectacle in ihe march past of learns with banners, and this was followed by an exhibition match between Killarua (1914 champions) and Surrey Hills (runners-up). The champions won by 5 goals to 4.
