ON ROAD TO MUNICH

Western Allies Closest To Nazi "Hideaway" Country NUREMBERG RESISTANCE ENDS Rec. 10.30 a.m.. LONDON, April 20. The Seventh Army penetrated the medieval walled section of Nuremberg at several points sifter crossing a 40ft moat and breaching a 30ft wall. •

A later message says it is officially announced that all organised resistance has ended in Nuremberg. General Patch's columns, pushing southward at the 'extreme end of the western battle area on the road to Munich, are about 70 miles from the city, which 'is the capital of Hitler's Bavarian redoubt.

The best available information at Supreme Headquarters is that the redoubt extends from the eastern end of Lake Constance across the rugged and difficult Kitzbuhel Alps to the east of Salzburg and Berchtesgaden. The Allies in the Wesjt are now closer to the Nazi "hideway", country than the Russians, who are driving-up the Vienna-Linz .highway. 11 1 ———
