MILITARY DEFAULTERS
WATERSIDERS' PROTEST
At the monthly stop-work meeting of the Waterside Workers' Union this morning the following resolution was carried unanimously: "That a protest be forwarded to the Prime Minister in respect to the vicious sentences meted out to military defaulters; we request a review of all cases with the right of appeal; we protest against indeterminate sentences and solitary confinement." Reference was also made to recent utterances of Major W. S. Jordan, the following resolution being carried unanimously: "Ex-service members of the union entirely dissociate themselves from the statements made by Major Jordan; we feel that the views expressed by him do not coincide with members' personal experiences of the Greek people; and that Major Jordan's attacks on the trade union movement show a regrettable lack of knowledge of the ft'ue state of affairs. Members feel that Major -Jorclan would be better employed in building unity instead of creating.disunity.
