BAIN GETS CENTURY
AVELLINGTON BATSMEN IMPROVE P.A. DUNEDIN, this day. The Wellington-Otago cricket resumed at Carisbrook to-day in dull weather and on an easy wicket. Mooney (43) and Bain i2S), the not out men in the visitors' second innings yesterday, played the brightest cricket of the match, Mooney, particularly, being very aggressive.and scoring with a wide variety of strokes. He looked like carrying on to the century when he succumbed to a catch in the long field off McDougall, with 75 runs to his credit. At noon the score was 225 for three wickets. After Mooney's dismissal there was more bright batting, and the feature of it was Bain's century. JU> gave a superlative display of first r;ile batting. He was joined by Ell, who immediately, and with disastrous results, began to force the scoring. In going for a wild hit Ell was out lbw when the total was 240. Chapman then joined Bain, who took 25 miuutes to go from 90 to his century. With the score at 270 for four wickets, Bain was 104 and Chapman 29.
