HEADMASTER RETIRES

After nearly forty years as a teacher, Mr. Norman D. Day, headmaster of the Waiuku District High School, has retired. He was educated at the New Plymouth Boys' High School. He began as a teacher at the Central School at New Plymouth. Later he came to the Auckland province, and held assistant positions at the Hamilton East, Tauranga and Richmond Road schools. He was the first headmaster of the Howick District High School. From there he went to Waiuku. Mr. Day han been prominent in musical and dramatic circles, and was a foundation member of the New Zealand Four vocal quartet, and New Plymouth Male Choir. In his earlier days he was active in golf and rowing.
