Lance-Corporal Ralph Teece (Joe) Smith, reported killed on active service, was the third son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Smith, 414, Queen Street, Auckland. Corporal Smith was 21 years of age. He was educated at the Newton West School. Later he was farming in the Huntly district, and was a member of the local polo club. He went overseas last February.
