POST-WAR INDIA
EDUCATION PLANS FOB ALL WASHINGTON. The Government of India and the provincial governments of that area are now considering a post-war educational development programme that would aim to give every child in India a minimum basic education and enable promising youth to pass through high schools and colleges, the Government of India Information Service announced here recently. The programme is popularly known as the "Sargent plan," because of the connection of John Sargent, educational advisor to the Indian Government, with its development. The plan would require compulsory school attendance for all Indian children between the ages of 6 and 14.
