UNDEFENDED SUITS
MORE PETITIONS HEARD
In the Supreme Court to-day Mr. Justice Fair dealt with a list of 27 undefended petitions either for divorce or restitution of conjugal rights. To-day's list, together with the lists disposed of by Mr. Justice Callan on two days earlier this week, made the number of petitions heard nearly 100.
On the grounds of desertion Marjorie Gertrude Duncan-Lourie (Mr. Baeyertz) was granted a decree nisi on her petition against Murdoch Duncan-Lou'rie. Petitioner said she married respondent in June, 1937 and in December, 1939, he left her to go to Thames, and he had not since returned to her. Subsequently she learned that he had gone through a bigamous marriage under another name.
Separation for three years was successfully pleaded and a decree nisi granted the petitioners in the following cases: Jean Cantley Twin (Mr. Dickson) against Leslie William Twin; Arthur George Tibbitts (Mr. Dickson) against Grace Tibbitts; Sylvia Irene Carter (Mr. Hooper), against Thomas Carter; Hilda Amalia Ertuek (Mr. Westbrook), against Frederick Ertuck; William Kenneth Eady (Mr. Westbrook), against Annie Louise Eady. In the following cases desertion was proved against the respondents, and decrees nisi granted the petitioners: Thomas Clifford Pierce (Mr. Dickson), against Thelma Pierce; Irene Elizabeth Henderson (Mr. Anderson), against Henry Edward Henderson; Marjorie Jane Hulmes (Mr. Tong), against Robert Andrew Hulmes. . On the ground of adultery Stanley Clyde Whye (Mr. Mackay) was granted a decree nisi against Mary Josephine Whye, Charles William Fitzpatrick being named as co-respondent. Failed to Comply The respondents, having failed to comply with orders for restitution, decrees nisi were issued in favour of the petitioners in the following cases: Mary Ann Mills Niven (Mr. Dickson), against Leslie David Niven. Jocelyne Ursula Parr (Mr. Dickson), against John Parr; Douglas Ray-" mond Sheath (Mr. Jenkins), against Bernice Laura Sheath; Frederick Alexander Robertson (Mr. Bramsby), against Edna May Robertson; William Patrick O'Brien (Mr. Robinson), against Ivy Jane -O'Brien; Alan Christian Christensen XMr. Robinson), against Lillian Kathleen Christensen; Alexander Robert Edward Walker (Mr. Robinson), against Iris Dorothy Millicent Walker; Edith Cavell Transom (Mr. Robinson), against Lancelot Transom; Robert Matthew Henderson (Mr. Brainsby), against PearUne Mary Henderson. Ordered to Return In each of the following cases an order was made, for the' respondent to return to the petitioner: Melvyn Stanley Lewis Carpenter (Mr. Dickson), against Elizabeth Olive Carpenter; Margaret Muriel Gates Mcßeth (Mr. Dickson), against Millen Mcßeth; Olga May PecKham (Mr. Hooper), against Leonard Harry iLvan Peckham; Mary Ann Hopkins (Mr. Coates), against John Balfour Hopkins, Alan Francis Yeo (Mr. Robinson), against Florence Edna Yeo; Elizabeth Stace (Mr. Robinson), against Frank Stace.
