IMPORT CONTROL
FREE MOVEMENT DESIRED
That all forms of import control are restrictive to trade, and, as such, are undesirable, is the view of the executive of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce, and at a meeting.of the chamber to-day the executive suggested that the Import Control Regulations should be repealed at the earliest possible date after the termination of hostilities with Germany. It was decided to forward a remit to the conference of the Associated Chambers embodying the above view, and also expressing the opinion that, while rocognising that war condi. tions necessitated the practice of Government - to - Government purchases of certain commodities, the aim should be towards the establishment of free movement in all commodities.
