CAUGHT IN BEDROOM
SIX MONTHS FOB THIEF
Charges of stealing an overcoat, valued at £5, on June 16, and on June 21 with stealing a purse and contents, valued at £1 5/, Lionel George Hood (47), labourer, came before Mr. J. H. Luxford, S.M., in the Police Court yesterday and pleaded guilty. Detective - Sergeant Aplin said Hood stole the overcoat belonging to the custodian of a public convenience and pawned it for 10/. On June 21 a housemaid employed in a city hotel found Hood in her bedroom with her purse in his hand. Hood threw the purse on the bed I and attempted to leave, but the L woman detained him and he was handed over to the police. Hood, who had a formidable list of previous convictions, was addicted to liquor. On one charge the magistrate sentenced Hood to six months' imprisonment.
