FAMILY ARRESTED
THREE AUCKLANDERS
SHOP-LIFTING ALLEGATIONS

HAMILTON- this day.] Three; Auckland residents, Thomas Brown, aged 54, hts wife, Isabel Jean Brown, aged 54, and their son Raymond Thomas Brown, aged 31, were arrested yesterday afternoon in Hamilton and appeared in the Magistrate's Court this morning before Justices of the Peace, charged with theft. In asking that the three accused be remanded to appear in Auckland next Friday, Detective-Sergeant W. R. Murray said there were indications that the three had come to Hamilton by car for the express purpose of extensive shop-lifting operations. At the time of their arrest their car contained an assortment of goods allegedly stolen from Hamilton shops.
Mr. Murray added that information had been received from Auckland that further charges would be preferred there against the accused. He therefore asked the Bench to fix substantial bail.
Mr. W. J. King, who appeared for all three accused, asked for bail, which the Bench fixed at £200 in respect of <jach of the three, with a surety of a like amount.
