RETURNED PERSONNEL
. PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH AID : The assistance which church mem- : bers could give to returned men and women and their dependants was discussed at a conference attended by about 70 laymen of Auckland Presbyterian Churches in St_ David's Church hall last night. A commit- : tee was set up to frame definite pro- ' posals for submission to the Pres- \ bytery. : It was a duty, speakers said, not \ only for the Church itself, but for • individual members, to help re- : turned personnel to settle into ■ civilian life contentedly, to aid their . wives and dependants, to do every- . thing possible to overcome anxiety i neurosis, and to study aspects of ! health, homes and work for re- ! turned personnel. i It was decided to hold another ■ conference in about a month's time : to discuss reports of two other sub- ■ committees on the duty of the . Church, as an organised body, in i influencing public opinion and" Par- . liament regarding the nation's ; obligations to returned men and ; women, and on the best way to ensure that returned personnel played a full part in the spiritual life and work of the Church.
